Tata Steel’s Joda
East Iron Mine has been conferred with the Pollution Control Appreciation Award
2026 for its exemplary environmental practices and commitment to sustainable
mining, officials said.
The award was
presented on Friday during the 43rd Foundation Day celebrations of the Odisha
State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) at the OUAT Conference Hall here.

Minister Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
The honour was
jointly presented by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and the
Member Secretary of the OSPCB.
The award recognises
Joda East Iron Mine’s sustained efforts towards environmental stewardship,
including the implementation of best practices in air quality management, water
conservation and soil protection across its operations.
The recognition also
highlighted Tata Steel’s efforts to integrate sustainable practices and
environmental safeguards into its mining operations.
Adding to the
significance of the event, Tata Steel set up exclusive exhibition stalls at the
venue to showcase its initiatives in sustainable mining and advanced green
technologies.
The interactive stalls offered visitors and dignitaries a glimpse into the company’s technology-driven approach to sustainable mining and its initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact.
Visitors and dignitaries lauded Tata Steel for leveraging technology to set benchmarks for responsible and environmentally conscious mining in the region.
