“The teachers should continually update their
knowledge, embrace technology and adopt innovative teaching methods. They
should promote independent thinking and cultivate a spirit of enquiry among students,”
President Droupadi Murmu said in her message greeting teachers across the
country on the eve of Teachers’ Day.
Extending
her heartfelt greetings to teachers, the President said Teachers’ Day is
observed to mark the birth anniversary of former President of India, Dr
Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great author and philosopher as well as an
extraordinary teacher.
On
the occasion, President Murmu paid her humble tributes to Dr Radhakrishnan and
highlighted the vital role teachers play in shaping the future of the country
through guidance and mentorship.
“Teachers, through their guidance and
mentorship, play a vital role in nurturing talent and strengthening character.
It is their duty to guide students to become good human beings,” she said.
The
President said a dedicated and caring teacher can recognise the unique
potential of students, serve as a source of inspiration and encourage them to
strive for excellence.
Emphasising
the need for teachers to keep pace with changing times, President Murmu called
upon them to continually update their knowledge, embrace technology and adopt
innovative methods of teaching. She also stressed the importance of encouraging
independent thinking and cultivating a spirit of enquiry among students.
The President expressed her gratitude to all dedicated teachers for their contribution to nation-building and wished that they would continue to nurture enlightened generations who would take the country to greater heights.
Teachers’ Day is celebrated in India every year on September 5 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose contributions as an educator, philosopher and statesman continue to inspire generations.
