TP Southern Odisha Distribution
Limited (TPSODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of
Odisha, has commissioned a new 33/11 kV Primary Substation (New Khalikote
College PSS) under BED-1, further strengthening power infrastructure and
enhancing supply reliability in Berhampur and adjoining areas.
The newly constructed primary
substation is equipped with two 10 MVA Power Transformers (PTRs), significantly
improving load management capacity and ensuring better voltage stability for
consumers. The substation is supported by two incoming 33 kV lines from New
Medical PSS (1.6 km) and Ambagada (7 km), creating a robust and reliable power
supply network.
With 7.5 km of multiple 11 kV outgoing
feeders covering key locations such as Hill Patna, City Hospital, Old Bus
Stand, Tata Benz area, and SBI Main (Pani Tanki area), the distribution network
across important residential and commercial belts has been strengthened. This
development is expected to enhance supply quality, reduce outages, and address
voltage fluctuation issues to a considerable extent.
Around 15,000 consumers are set to
benefit from the new substation, which will serve major localities including
Hill Patna, Tata Benz area, commercial establishments near Old Bus Stand, and
the SBI Main (Pani Tanki area), thereby supporting both residential and
commercial growth in the region.
“The New Khalikote College PSS will
significantly ease the load on existing infrastructure and improve overall
service reliability. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to
strengthening the power distribution network and delivering quality electricity
services to consumers,” said Amit Kumar Garg, CEO of TPSODL.
TPSODL continues to focus on
infrastructure development across Southern Odisha through sustained investments
in capacity augmentation and network expansion, ensuring reliable, efficient,
and future-ready power supply for all.
