Public awareness
regarding solar energy adoption is witnessing a steady rise across Cuttack
district under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. TP Central Odisha
Distribution Limited (TPCODL) is actively driving the installation of rooftop
solar systems under the scheme, making clean energy solutions more accessible,
seamless, affordable and convenient for households.
As part of its
outreach initiative, village-level awareness meetings are being organized
across various parts of Cuttack district to educate consumers about the
benefits of rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
One such awareness
meeting was recently held at Jagannathpur village under Nishchintakoili Fagol
Gram Panchayat. During the programme, residents were informed about the easy
process of installing rooftop solar panels under the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
Hundreds of villagers participated enthusiastically in the awareness drive and
expressed strong interest in adopting solar energy solutions for their homes.
Speaking on the
initiative, Arvind Singh, CEO, TPCODL, said, “TPCODL is committed to supporting
the Government of India’s vision of promoting clean and sustainable energy
solutions. Through continuous awareness programmes and consumer engagement, we
are encouraging households to adopt rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya
Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This initiative will not only help consumers reduce
their electricity expenses but also contribute towards a greener and more
sustainable future.”
TPCODL-Electrical
Circle, Cuttack has recorded significant growth in installations under the PM
Surya Ghar initiative during 2025 and 2026. Beginning with 46 installations in
January 2025, the numbers registered a steady upward trajectory throughout the
year, reaching 369 installations in December 2025.
The momentum
accelerated further in 2026, with installations increasing sharply to 455 in
January and peaking at 1,384 installations in March 2026. A total of 6,364
installations have been achieved so far, reflecting growing consumer interest
and rapid adoption of rooftop solar systems across the Cuttack Electrical
Circle area.
Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’s ULA model, consumers can avail a 1 kW rooftop solar system by paying only Rs. 1,875. The rooftop solar system comes with a 25-year warranty, while maintenance services will be provided by the DISCOM for a period of five years at no additional cost, ensuring reliable and hassle-free service for consumers.
Through such awareness initiatives, TPCODL continues to reinforce its commitment to sustainable energy adoption while empowering rural consumers with clean, green and affordable power solutions.
