Taking the clean-energy push to the grassroots, TP Central
Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) on Tuesday flagged off its ‘Solar Rath’
from the Office of the District Collector here, with the mobile awareness
campaign set to traverse villages across Anugola district to encourage
households to embrace rooftop solar under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
The campaign, flagged off by Abdaal M. Akhtar, Collector, Anugola,
in the presence of senior TPCODL officials, will cover Model Solar Villages and
other villages in the district, educating consumers about the benefits of solar
energy, rooftop solar systems for households, government subsidies and the installation
process.
As part of the campaign, the ‘Solar Sanga’ team will directly
engage with consumers, explain the scheme and address their queries, helping
bridge the information gap and facilitate greater adoption of rooftop solar.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdaal M. Akhtar, Collector, Anugola,
said, “The Solar Rath campaign will take awareness about rooftop solar directly
to the people and help more households benefit from the PM Surya Ghar: Muft
Bijli Yojana. Such initiatives will contribute to promoting renewable energy
and sustainable development.”
Gajanan S. Kale, CEO, TPCODL, said, “Through the Solar Rath
campaign, we are taking the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana
closer to consumers. By creating awareness and engaging with people at the
grassroots level, we aim to accelerate rooftop solar adoption and contribute to
Odisha’s clean energy future.”
TPCODL, a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government
of Odisha, has been undertaking several initiatives to expand rooftop solar
adoption, including ‘Mo Chhata, Mo Sanchaya’, Gram Sabhas and the Solar Rath
campaign.
Through these efforts, the company aims to make clean,
affordable solar energy more accessible to consumers while supporting the wider
transition towards renewable energy and sustainable development in Odisha.
