Advanced planning, cutting-edge technology and the unwavering commitment of a dedicated workforce enabled TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, to successfully ensure safe, reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply throughout Rath Yatra 2026 in Puri.

The world-renowned spiritual congregation witnessed an unprecedented gathering of millions of devotees this year, creating immense operational challenges and placing extraordinary demands on the power distribution network. However, through meticulous preparation and robust infrastructure management, TPCODL ensured that the grand festival was conducted smoothly with zero major power disruptions across the city.

Months ahead of the Rath Yatra, TPCODL undertook extensive preparations, including strengthening of substations and transformers, preventive maintenance of critical assets, reinforcement of distribution lines, underground cabling works and continuous real-time monitoring of the power network. These proactive measures ensured uninterrupted electricity supply to key locations such as the revered Shree Jagannath Temple, the historic Grand Road (Badadanda), Gundicha Temple, hospitals, police establishments, emergency service facilities and other essential installations.

To manage the massive power requirements during the festival, more than 800 engineers, officers, linemen and field personnel were deployed round the clock across Puri. The entire operation was closely monitored through the Central Master Control Room at Talabania, the Digital Command Centre and multiple dedicated control rooms established for real-time coordination, quick response and efficient power management.

Beyond ensuring reliable electricity supply, TPCODL also used the occasion to spread awareness about clean energy and digital initiatives. A Solar Awareness Stall near Gundicha Temple attracted thousands of visitors, educating them about the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model, rooftop solar solutions, smart meters, digital services, online bill payments, energy conservation practices and electrical safety measures.
