In a significant
boost to regional power stability, TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited
(TPNODL) has successfully commissioned 32 MVA of additional network capacity
within a record-breaking 48-hour window. The swift intervention brings major
relief to more than 27,000 households across Bhadrak, Balasore, and Keonjhar
districts, with the upgrade strategically timed to address the surge in
electricity demand typically witnessed during the peak summer months.
The enhancements were
carried out across three key Primary Substations (PSS) — Basudevpur, Nilagiri
and Gambharia — collectively serving consumers across the three districts. At
Basudevpur PSS in Bhadrak North Division, substation capacity was increased
from 5 MVA to 8 MVA, significantly improving power quality and reliability for
around 11,049 households in Barndua, Narasingpur, Bazar Area and Medical Area.
Similarly, Nilagiri
PSS in Balasore’s Central Electrical Division was upgraded from 5 MVA to 8 MVA,
addressing rising load requirements and ensuring stable electricity supply to
Rajnagar and Nilagiri areas, positively impacting more than 5,000 households.
The most substantial enhancement was undertaken at Gambharia PSS in Keonjhar
Division, where capacity was doubled from 8 MVA to 16 MVA, strengthening the
distribution network for Keonjhar town and adjoining areas, benefiting 11,378
consumers.
With the commissioning of the additional capacity, consumers can expect improved reliability during the high-demand summer period, significantly reducing the risk of outages caused by load fluctuations. The infrastructure augmentation reinforces the resilience of the power distribution network, supporting the region’s growing energy needs and enabling long-term development.
By completing these upgrades within an exceptionally compressed timeframe, TPNODL has demonstrated a proactive approach to grid management, prioritising consumer comfort and uninterrupted power supply during Odisha’s most demanding weather conditions.
