With the onset of the monsoon, TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has launched an extensive Monsoon Preparedness Campaign, reinforcing its commitment to electrical safety and uninterrupted, quality power supply across its licensed areas.

As part of the initiative, TPNODL has issued a comprehensive advisory urging consumers to adopt essential safety precautions during the rainy season. The utility has advised consumers to switch off the main power supply in the event of waterlogging or leakage in meter cabins, undertake all electrical wiring modifications only through licensed electricians, avoid handling electrical installations with wet hands, and refrain from overloading electrical appliances.

Consumers have also been urged to keep windows closed during lightning, switch off electrical appliances when not in use, avoid dumping garbage near distribution poles, and ensure that children do not play near transformers or in waterlogged fields close to electrical installations.

The DISCOM has issued a strong warning against touching or attempting to retrieve fallen electrical wires. Any sparking, damage, or faults in electrical infrastructure should be reported immediately to TPNODL without attempting direct intervention. For emergency assistance, consumers can contact the company's 24x7 helpline numbers — 1800-345-6718 or 1912.

Speaking on the occasion, TPNODL CEO Dushyant Kumar Tyagi said safety remains the company's highest priority, particularly during the challenging monsoon season.

"The monsoon brings unique operational challenges, and we are fully committed to protecting lives and property while ensuring reliable electricity supply across our service areas. We appeal to all consumers to remain vigilant, follow the prescribed safety guidelines, and partner with us in building a safer and more resilient power ecosystem," he said.

To enhance resilience against adverse weather conditions, TPNODL has significantly strengthened its distribution infrastructure and operational preparedness over the past year. The company has deployed rapid response teams, reinforced vulnerable sections of its power network, and positioned adequate field resources to ensure swift restoration of services during emergencies.

Further bolstering its safety framework, TPNODL has equipped field personnel with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and specialised tools while enforcing strict adherence to safety protocols during monsoon operations.

Reaffirming its consumer-first approach, TPNODL said it remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard lives and property while delivering safe, reliable and uninterrupted electricity to consumers across Northern Odisha throughout the monsoon season.
