Reinforcing its commitment to inclusive community development and youth empowerment, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has felicitated 30 meritorious students from across Southern Odisha with scholarships to support their academic pursuits. The initiative underscores the company’s sustained focus on nurturing future-ready talent, particularly among students from economically weaker and underprivileged backgrounds.

The beneficiaries are currently pursuing Diploma and ITI courses at various Government Polytechnic and ITI institutions across the region. TPSODL received around 80 applications under the scholarship programme, out of which 30 students were selected through a structured evaluation process based on defined eligibility criteria and rigorous scrutiny. The financial assistance is aimed at easing economic challenges and enabling students to pursue technical education with confidence and continuity.

In another significant step towards strengthening livelihoods, TPSODL felicitated 33 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) who successfully completed a tailoring training programme at the company’s Anokha Dhaga Centre. The participants were awarded certificates, equipping them with skills to pursue self-employment opportunities and contribute to their families’ economic well-being.

Speaking on the occasion, TPSODL CEO Amit Kumar Garg said that the company continues to undertake multiple initiatives through its CSR programmes to create meaningful impact at the grassroots level. He noted that the scholarship initiative reflects TPSODL’s pride in supporting talented students who represent the future of the nation. He further highlighted that skill-based initiatives such as tailoring training are helping generate employment opportunities and empowering women to become financially independent.

TPSODL Director Sunil Singh congratulated the students and encouraged them to remain focused on their goals. He emphasised that while the digital era brings numerous distractions, dedication and discipline are key to success. He advised students to prioritise their health along with education, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting their aspirations.

Among the beneficiaries, Debanshu Panda, a second-year ITI student in the electrician trade at Berhampur Government ITI, shared that he lost his parents during the COVID pandemic and is currently continuing his studies with determination. He expressed gratitude to TPSODL for the scholarship support, which will help him pursue his education without financial stress.

Through such initiatives, TPSODL continues to demonstrate its dedication to sustainable and inclusive growth by investing in education, skill development, and women empowerment. The company’s CSR efforts aim to create long-term social impact by enabling individuals to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society.
