TP Southern Odisha
Distribution Limited (TPSODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government
of Odisha, has further reinforced the power infrastructure in Rayagada with the
commissioning of a new 33/11kV, 12.5/16 MVA power transformer at the Auto Nagar
Power Sub-Station (PSS). The initiative forms part of TPSODL’s sustained
efforts to deliver reliable, stable and future-ready electricity services to
consumers across Southern Odisha.
Rayagada holds
strategic significance as a rapidly developing district headquarters, characterised
by a blend of urban settlements, government institutions and expanding
commercial activity. The district also functions as an important administrative
and connectivity hub for nearby tribal and rural regions. Ensuring a strong and
dependable power network is therefore vital for governance, public services,
local enterprises and overall socio-economic progress.
To address the
growing power demand in the city, TPSODL has successfully commissioned the
33/11kV, 12.5/16 MVA power transformer at the Auto Nagar PSS. The upgrade
effectively resolves recurring overload challenges in the existing system while
substantially improving the capacity and reliability of electricity supply.
The newly installed
transformer supports the 11KV Town-3 feeder, benefiting nearly 8,000 consumers,
including households, government offices and key district administration
facilities. With improved load sharing among transformers and the addition of
new 33KV and 11KV bays, the burden on ageing infrastructure has been
significantly reduced, resulting in smoother and more efficient power
distribution.
To further enhance
supply continuity, TPSODL has installed a 33KV Ring Main Unit (RMU) at the
substation. This advanced system facilitates dual-source power supply, ensuring
uninterrupted electricity even during feeder faults or emergency situations.
The development marks
an important milestone in modernising Rayagada’s power network. Consumers are
expected to experience fewer outages, improved voltage stability and enhanced
service quality, supporting the district’s future growth and development.
Speaking on the
occasion, TPSODL CEO Amit Kumar Garg said, “At TPSODL, we are committed to
strengthening power infrastructure across Southern Odisha. The commissioning of
this new transformer at Auto Nagar PSS is a step towards ensuring reliable and
uninterrupted power supply. This will greatly benefit the people of Rayagada
and support the district’s growing energy needs.”
