Reinforcing its commitment to operational excellence and employee safety, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) has strengthened its field operations and maintenance capabilities with the induction of four new Man-Lifter vehicles and the inauguration of a Vertigo Height Test Structure at its Goshala Training Centre in Sambalpur.

With the addition of the new vehicles, TPWODL now operates a fleet of 17 Man-Lifters, ensuring the availability of at least one vehicle in each division across its operational area. The initiative is aimed at enhancing the safety of employees engaged in maintenance, inspection, installation, tree-trimming and emergency restoration activities, particularly those involving work at height.

The Man-Lifter vehicles provide a stable and secure working environment, significantly reducing the risks associated with conventional methods such as ladders and temporary scaffolding. Equipped with advanced safety features, including guardrails, safety gates and harness anchorage points, the platforms enable employees to carry out critical tasks with greater safety and efficiency.

The vehicles will play a crucial role in routine maintenance and vegetation management activities, while also strengthening response capabilities during emergencies such as Kalbaisakhi storms and other weather-related disruptions. Faster and safer access to elevated locations will help ensure timely restoration of power supply and improved service reliability for consumers.

Further strengthening its safety ecosystem, TPWODL has inaugurated a Vertigo Height Test Structure at its Goshala Training Centre in Sambalpur. The facility has been established to assess and train employees involved in height-related work by evaluating their ability to safely operate at elevated locations. It will also provide practical exposure and confidence-building exercises, helping employees develop the skills and awareness required to follow safe work practices while minimizing workplace risks.

Speaking on the occasion, TPWODL CEO Parveen Verma said, "At TPWODL, ensuring the safety of our frontline workforce is our highest responsibility and a foundational pillar of our operational strategy. By empowering our employees with the right tools, technology, and training, we are ensuring safer operations, faster response capabilities, and reliable power supply for our consumers."

These latest initiatives reflect TPWODL’s proactive approach towards workplace safety, employee welfare and reliable network maintenance. By investing in modern equipment and specialized training infrastructure, the company continues to build a safer workplace while further strengthening power distribution services across Western Odisha.
