Tata's extraordinary contribution to Indian industry and emphasised that ethics
is not merely a policy but a way of life. He encouraged employees to uphold
integrity, fairness and accountability in every professional decision and
interaction.
Born on July 29, 1904, in Paris, France, Shri JRD Tata was
one of India's most respected industrialists, a pioneer of Indian civil
aviation and a visionary institution builder. Under his leadership, the Tata
Group expanded into several iconic businesses, including Tata Consultancy
Services, Tata Motors, Titan, Voltas and Tata Airlines (now Air India). In
recognition of his exceptional contributions to India's industrial development
and nation-building, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1955 and the
country's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, in 1992.
Addressing the employees, TPWODL Chief Executive Officer Parveen
Verma said, "Shri JRD Tata taught us that true leadership is measured not
only by what we achieve, but by how we achieve it. Ethics is the foundation of
lasting success, and integrity must guide every decision we make, even when no
one is watching. At TPWODL, we are committed to carrying forward his legacy by
building a culture rooted in honesty, transparency, respect and responsibility.
As we continue serving more than 21 lakh consumers across Western Odisha, we
will remain steadfast in creating value with purpose, earning trust through
ethical conduct and contributing meaningfully to society."
Ethics Day was also observed across all five Circle Offices of TPWODL, where employees reaffirmed their commitment to the Tata Code of Conduct and the values of integrity, respect and responsible leadership inspired by JRD Tata.
Serving more than 21 lakh consumers across nine districts of Western Odisha, TPWODL continues to build a future-ready power distribution network while fostering a culture of transparency, accountability and ethical governance. The company remains focused on delivering reliable electricity services, strengthening customer trust and creating sustainable value for all stakeholders by upholding the Tata Group's core values.
