Continuing its commitment to strengthening power infrastructure across Western Odisha, TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has commissioned 28 new Distribution Transformer (DTR) projects across Balangir district.

Executed with an investment of over ₹4.15 crore, the projects have added 6,800 KVA of transformation capacity, significantly enhancing the district's power distribution network and improving the quality, reliability, and stability of electricity supply for nearly 11,000 consumers across both urban and rural areas.

The newly commissioned transformers, ranging in capacity from 25 KVA to 500 KVA, have been installed at strategically identified locations, including CID Office, Dumping Yard, Talpalipada, Junadih, Rajibnagar, Rugudipada, Rampur, Saharapada, Sonepur Road, Jamunapali, Mahulpati, Palsapada, Dangia, Jamki, Laxminagar, Phuguda, Punjipathar, Sanbanki, Gaintala, BBMCH Chowk, Surya Nagar, Tulsinagar, Salepali, Children's Park, Indranagar, Blossom School, and Barpalipada. The capacity augmentation has been undertaken to meet the growing electricity demand, address low-voltage issues, and enhance the resilience of the distribution network.

Speaking on the development, Parveen Verma, CEO, TPWODL, said: "At TPWODL, our focus is on building a future-ready and resilient power distribution network that keeps pace with the evolving needs of our consumers. The commissioning of these DTR projects reflects our continued commitment to enhancing service reliability, improving voltage quality, and delivering a superior customer experience. We will continue to invest in modernising our network infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted power supply across Western Odisha."

Several of these localities had been experiencing voltage fluctuations and increasing power demand due to rapid residential and commercial growth. The newly installed DTRs will improve voltage stability, strengthen supply reliability, and enhance overall service quality, ensuring uninterrupted electricity for households, commercial establishments, educational institutions, markets, and other public utilities, particularly during peak demand periods.

The initiative has also expanded dependable electricity infrastructure to underserved and remote habitations in Khaprakhol, Turekela, and Belpada blocks, improving access to quality power while supporting socio-economic development and enhancing the quality of life in rural communities.

As part of its ongoing network modernisation programme, TPWODL continues to invest in strengthening distribution infrastructure across its operational areas. Through strategic capacity augmentation and customer-centric initiatives, the company remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and quality electricity while supporting the region's economic growth and enhancing consumer satisfaction.
