Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable community development through skill enhancement, Utkal Alumina International Ltd. (UAIL), a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Ltd. under the Aditya Birla Group, felicitated nine youth from its peripheral villages after they secured employment as Welder Technicians at IFB, a leading Bengaluru-based manufacturer of home appliances and precision engineering components.

The successful candidates comprise six youth from Bagrijhola village and one each from Sanamatikana, Pindakapadar and Badlijharan. Their achievement marks the successful outcome of a three-month intensive welding training programme conducted at the Aditya Birla Skill Centre (ABSC), Rayagada, under UAIL's flagship CSR initiative, Project Kaushal. The programme is designed to equip local youth with industry-relevant technical skills, enhance their employability and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.

UAIL's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team played a pivotal role in the initiative by identifying, mobilising and motivating eligible candidates from nearby villages. The company also extended comprehensive support by bearing the trainees' travel and food expenses throughout the training period, ensuring that financial constraints did not hinder their participation.

Congratulating the newly recruited candidates, UAIL CSR Head Lopamudra Mishra reaffirmed the company's commitment to empowering local communities through skill development, livelihood generation, women's empowerment and infrastructure development. She said these initiatives are aimed at fostering inclusive and sustainable socio-economic growth across the region while creating meaningful employment opportunities for rural youth.

The felicitation ceremony was held at the Hadiguda Gram Panchayat Office under the chairmanship of Sarpanch Jadumani Majhi. The event was attended by the parents of the selected candidates, representatives of the Aditya Birla Skill Centre and members of UAIL's CSR team. UAIL Plant CSR DH Diganta Mohanty, Sudhir Nayak and other CSR officials congratulated and encouraged the successful candidates as they prepared to begin their professional careers. On the occasion, utility kits were distributed to the recruits before their departure to join their new assignments, symbolising the company's continued support as they embark on a new phase of their lives.
