NTPC Bongaigaon,
under the aegis of the Employee Welfare Association (EWA) of the power station,
joyfully celebrated Bohagi Utsav 2026 on 14th May 2026, marking the culmination
of the Assamese New Year festivities that began on 14th April 2026. Organised
as part of the station’s employee welfare and cultural engagement initiatives,
the vibrant celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, their
family members, and distinguished guests.
The programme was
inaugurated by Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, in the presence of Kasturi
Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, NTPC Bongaigaon.
Addressing the
gathering, Gupta highlighted the cultural diversity of NTPC Bongaigaon and
described the township as a true confluence of traditions and communities. He
noted that celebrating festivals from different cultures under one roof
reflects the spirit of inclusivity, unity, and harmony that defines the NTPC
family.
The cultural evening
showcased an impressive array of traditional performances representing the
region’s rich ethnic heritage. A graceful Sattriya dance performance added
classical elegance to the programme, while vibrant folk performances by Tiwa,
Bodo, and Rabha cultural troupes captivated the audience with their colourful
attire, rhythmic movements, and traditional music.
The evening also
featured energetic Bihu dance performances and traditional Husori presentations
by local artistes and regional talents. The performances beautifully reflected
the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Assam and Bodoland. The rhythmic
beats of the Dhol and Pepa, accompanied by colourful folk presentations,
created a festive atmosphere and left the audience enthralled.
The celebrations also
embraced the spirit of Bwisagu, the traditional New Year festival of the Bodo
community, symbolising the unique cultural integration and communal harmony
that NTPC Bongaigaon continues to promote through such initiatives. Heads of Departments,
employees, members of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, and township residents
attended the programme, adding to the festive fervour through their
enthusiastic participation.
The celebration
provided a meaningful platform for employees and their families to connect with
the region’s rich cultural traditions while strengthening the spirit of
togetherness and community bonding. Through such initiatives, NTPC Bongaigaon
continues to foster employee engagement and promote a vibrant, inclusive, and
culturally enriched workplace environment.
