Vedanta Aluminium’s flagship skill development initiative enables 30 local youth to secure employment in India’s fast-growing electronics manufacturing sector

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, is strengthening pathways from skill development to sustainable employment for youth in Jharsuguda through its flagship VeDakshata Skill Development Initiative. In a significant achievement for the programme, the latest batch of 30 trainees has secured employment with leading electronics manufacturers, including Tata Electronics, Foxconn and Dixon Technologies, following specialised training as Mobile Hardware Repair Technicians. The placements mark a significant step in connecting local talent with opportunities in India’s rapidly expanding technology and electronics manufacturing ecosystem.

Launched in 2025, the VeDakshata initiative has steadily expanded its impact across Jharsuguda by equipping local youth with industry-relevant skills and facilitating access to employment opportunities. Earlier this year, Vedanta Aluminium supported the training of 60 candidates in Mobile Repairing and Food & Beverage Services, followed by another batch of 30 candidates completing the Food & Beverage Services programme. With more than 120 youth trained to date, the initiative is building a strong pool of skilled talent while strengthening the link between local communities and emerging employment opportunities across diverse sectors.

Among the latest cohort, women trainees have secured employment with Tata Electronics and Foxconn in Bengaluru, while male trainees have been placed with Dixon Technologies in Chennai. These placements offer local youth an opportunity to begin careers in India’s rapidly growing electronics manufacturing industry while gaining valuable exposure to professional workplaces.

Commenting on the achievement, C. Chandru, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, Jharsuguda, said, “The true value of skilling lies in its ability to create tangible livelihood opportunities. The placement of our trainees with leading companies reinforces the strong impact of this model, and we will continue expanding such opportunities across emerging sectors.”

The offer letters and course completion certificates were presented to the successful trainees during a valedictory ceremony at the VeDakshata Centre in Jharsuguda, in the presence of senior representatives from Vedanta Aluminium.

Jayshree Naik, a VeDakshata trainee from Jamera, said, “The programme helped me gain practical technical skills and understand what is expected in a professional workplace. Receiving a job opportunity after completing the training has given me confidence to begin my career and support my family.”

VeDakshata is Vedanta Aluminium’s flagship skill development initiative aimed at enhancing the employability of youth from communities around Jharsuguda. Through industry-aligned courses in Mobile Hardware Repair Technician and Food & Beverage Services, the programme combines hands-on training with workplace readiness, career guidance and placement support, enabling participants to transition from training to meaningful employment.
