The journey of most individuals is often shaped by a strong foundation — their family, which influences values, guides decisions and inspires confidence to move forward. The United Nations’ theme for International Day of Families 2026, ‘Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing’, reinforces the importance of building inclusive systems that nurture and strengthen family wellbeing.

This belief is reflected in Vedanta Aluminium’s multi-layered approach to employee wellbeing, which views employees, families and communities as an interconnected ecosystem. Healthcare and wellness remain central to this approach, anchored by initiatives such as the company’s free healthcare policy for employees and their dependents, and supported through measures like the Spouse Wellness Policy. Families benefit from access to quality medical care through leading healthcare providers, both offline and digital, along with regular preventive health checkups and awareness sessions on nutrition, mental wellness and women’s health. Strengthening this ecosystem further is Vedanta’s partnership with MantraCare, a comprehensive wellness platform offering online medical consultations, mental health support, physiotherapy, yoga and lifestyle management services, ensuring holistic care for employees and their families.

The company’s family-centric philosophy is also reflected in the integrated township developed near its mega aluminium plant in Jharsuguda, designed to support everyday living through access to healthcare, education and essential amenities, alongside spaces for recreation and community engagement. Equipped with facilities such as gyms, swimming pools, sports complexes and daycare centres, the township enables employees to maintain a healthy balance between professional and family life. Regular engagement initiatives and vibrant celebrations of festivals such as Holi, Durga Puja, Diwali and Christmas further strengthen the sense of togetherness within the community.

Vedanta Aluminium Jharsuguda CEO C Chandru emphasized this philosophy, saying, “At Vedanta Aluminium, we believe strong organisations are built on strong families and community networks. Our commitment to growth extends to the wellbeing, development and happiness of our people and their families. Through healthcare support, integrated township ecosystems, learning opportunities and community initiatives, we strive to create an environment where families feel secure, valued and connected.”

Extending this commitment beyond its workforce, Vedanta Aluminium also works closely with communities around its operations, benefitting thousands of families at the grassroots level. At the forefront of these efforts is Nand Ghar, Vedanta’s flagship initiative transforming anganwadis into modern centres for women and child development, with a focus on maternal healthcare, child nutrition and early education. In Jharsuguda alone, more than 175 Nand Ghars are currently strengthening access to essential grassroots services.

Further, the company is improving last-mile healthcare access through mobile health units operating across 28 villages in Jharsuguda, reaching over 18,000 beneficiaries with doorstep healthcare services, while broader awareness campaigns have impacted more than 2.8 lakh individuals. These efforts are complemented by sustained campaigns on child nutrition, maternal health and menstrual hygiene, alongside interventions such as pulse polio drives that have helped immunise 1,486 children in Jharsuguda by FY26, collectively contributing to healthier family outcomes.

Aligned with the global theme ‘Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing’, these initiatives aim to enhance overall quality of life and create more equitable opportunities for the families of both employees and community members. As the world observes the International Day of Families, Vedanta Aluminium’s continued focus reflects its deep commitment to care, inclusion and shared growth. This commitment is further reflected in recognitions such as the Great Place to Work certification and the PeopleFirst HR Excellence Awards for fostering an environment where employees, families and communities grow together with confidence and purpose.
