Reinforcing its commitment to strengthening public healthcare and safeguarding child health, Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of aluminium, partnered with the District Health Department, Jharsuguda, to support the Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign across 16 designated booths across the district. Conducted under the Government of India’s nationwide Pulse Polio Programme, the campaign successfully immunised more than 1,500 children below the age of five, contributing to the country's continued efforts towards sustaining a polio-free future through timely vaccination, community outreach and last-mile healthcare delivery.

The Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign is a flagship public health initiative aimed at ensuring that every eligible child receives the oral polio vaccine and remains protected against the disease. As part of its broader commitment to improving healthcare outcomes in its operational regions, Vedanta Aluminium continues to collaborate with government agencies and local stakeholders to promote preventive healthcare and strengthen community well-being.

The campaign in Jharsuguda brought together healthcare personnel, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Anganwadi workers, field volunteers and community mobilisers to ensure comprehensive coverage across the district. Vedanta Aluminium provided logistical support, community mobilisation and on-ground coordination to facilitate the smooth implementation of the campaign. A high-level monitoring team from the World Health Organization (WHO) visited multiple immunisation booths and appreciated the quality of implementation, adherence to vaccine cold-chain protocols, systematic record-keeping and effective coordination.

Speaking about the initiative, Vedanta Aluminium – Jharsuguda CEO C Chandru said, “Protecting children’s health is essential to building stronger and more resilient communities. Through this partnership, we are supporting the district administration in extending critical preventive healthcare services to every eligible child. The strong participation of families across Jharsuguda reflects the impact of coordinated grassroots mobilisation, and we remain committed to advancing accessible healthcare through meaningful partnerships.”

Vedanta Aluminium’s broader social impact initiatives span healthcare, education, livelihood development, women and child development, skilling, sports, culture and community infrastructure, benefiting nearly 80 villages around Jharsuguda. Its healthcare interventions in the district include Mobile Health Units, preventive health camps, maternal and child healthcare, immunisation support, sanitation initiatives, and tuberculosis awareness and nutrition support under the Nikshay Mitra programme.

Through sustained collaboration with government institutions and local communities, Vedanta Aluminium continues to drive inclusive and measurable development outcomes across its operational regions.
