The
Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has rapidly expanded its
Aadhaar-based offline verification system, onboarding 100 entities as Offline
Verification Seeking Entities (OVSEs) within just three months of its launch.
This
significant milestone, announced by the Ministry of Electronics and Information
Technology, marks a major step towards secure, consent-based, and paperless
identity verification across diverse sectors. The newly integrated OVSEs
include government bodies, fintech firms, educational institutions, and
hospitality services, reflecting growing confidence in Aadhaar's digital
framework.
The
system empowers Aadhaar holders to share limited, consent-based identity data
via QR codes and digitally signed documents, bypassing real-time access to
UIDAI's central database. This approach prioritizes user privacy, reduces
operational complexities, and is set to enhance service delivery and ease of
living for citizens.
