Prime Minister
Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted the transformative impact of his
government’s welfare-driven initiatives over the past 12 years, emphasizing
that the cornerstone of India’s development journey has been the upliftment of
the poor and marginalized sections of society.
Reflecting on more
than a decade of governance, the Prime Minister said the guiding principle
behind the government’s efforts has been Antyodaya—the commitment to ensure
that the fruits of development reach the last person in the queue. He noted
that the welfare of the poor and downtrodden has remained at the heart of policy-making,
leading to far-reaching social and economic changes across the country.
In a series of posts
on X, Modi stated that flagship initiatives such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Direct
Benefit Transfer (DBT), Swachh Bharat Mission, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan
Mission and Ayushman Bharat have been designed with a singular objective: to
provide dignity, opportunity and a better quality of life to millions of
Indians who had remained underserved for decades.
The Prime Minister
underscored the pivotal role of technology in accelerating inclusive
development and strengthening welfare delivery mechanisms. He said digital
platforms and the Direct Benefit Transfer system have enabled government
support to reach beneficiaries directly, transparently and efficiently,
significantly reducing leakages and ensuring greater accountability in
governance.
“Over the last 12 years, India has witnessed
many transformations and at the core of these changes is the welfare of the
poor and downtrodden. We have always been inspired by Antyodaya and our effort
has always been to ensure that the benefits of development reach those who were
left behind for decades,” Modi said.
He further emphasized
that the integration of technology with governance has enhanced public trust
and empowered citizens, turning welfare programmes into instruments of
long-term social transformation. According to the Prime Minister, the journey
of Garib Kalyan has evolved into a nationwide movement focused on human
empowerment and the realization of the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
As the government
marks 12 years of its welfare-centric initiatives, Modi reaffirmed his
commitment to building an inclusive, empowered and self-reliant India, where
development reaches every household and every citizen has the opportunity to
thrive.
