A high-level
delegation from the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) under the Union
Finance Ministry on Monday visited Paradip Port Authority to engage with
industry stakeholders and assess infrastructure development, logistics
efficiency and future growth requirements of the maritime sector.
The delegation, led
by DEA Joint Secretary Juhi Mukherjee, visited the Administrative Building of
the port as part of the Government of India’s field outreach programme aimed at
understanding sector-specific challenges and strengthening policy coordination
with industry stakeholders.
The visiting team
held detailed discussions with senior officials of the port on a range of
issues including port infrastructure, trade facilitation, multimodal logistics,
industrial growth, operational efficiency and future expansion plans.
Welcoming the
delegation, Paradip Port Chairman P. L. Haranadh said the port continues to
play a strategic role in India’s maritime trade ecosystem by handling major
cargo volumes and supporting industrial and logistics growth in eastern India.
The interaction was attended by T. Venu Gopal, A.K. Bose, along with Heads of
Departments and senior officials of the port.
During the
interaction, officials of Paradip Port Authority highlighted ongoing
infrastructure development initiatives, mechanisation efforts and measures
being undertaken to improve operational efficiency and ease of doing business.
Discussions also focused on strengthening multimodal connectivity and
addressing operational challenges to meet the growing demands of trade and
industry.
The DEA delegation’s
visit provided a key platform for constructive dialogue between policymakers
and industry stakeholders, enabling a better understanding of on-ground
realities and future requirements of the maritime and industrial sectors.
Reaffirming its
commitment towards supporting national economic growth, Paradip Port Authority
said it remains focused on developing world-class port infrastructure, ensuring
efficient cargo handling and promoting sustainable development initiatives.
