ICICI Prudential Life
Insurance Company on Friday appointed banking veteran Sidharatha Mishra as its
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a five-year term, marking a
leadership transition at the insurer following Anup Bagchi’s move to HDFC Bank.
Mishra will join
ICICI Prudential Life as Chief Operating Officer with effect from October 6,
2026, before taking charge as Additional Director and MD & CEO from October
14, 2026, or the date of approval by the Insurance Regulatory and Development
Authority of India (IRDAI), whichever is later. His appointment will be for
five consecutive years, subject to requisite approvals.
The leadership change
follows Bagchi’s resignation after HDFC Bank on Thursday announced his
appointment as its MD & CEO, effective October 13, 2026.
Mishra, an ICICI
Group veteran, brings more than 26 years of experience in banking. He currently
heads digital channels and partnerships, voice channel, customer service, NRI
and IFIG groups at ICICI Bank.
With his long tenure at the group and experience spanning digital banking, customer service and partnerships, Mishra’s elevation comes as ICICI Prudential Life prepares for a new phase of leadership following Bagchi’s departure.
Mishra holds a bachelor’s degree in science and a postgraduate diploma in management, specialising in finance, from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
