India Post and UTI Mutual Fund have strengthened their longstanding partnership to expand Know Your Customer (KYC) verification services across the country, aiming to improve investor convenience and promote financial inclusion, particularly in remote and underserved areas.

The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday to extend their existing agreement under the Pan-India KYC Verification Project. The agreement was signed by Adnan Ahmed, Chief General Manager, Parcel and CCS Directorate, Department of Posts, and Vetri Subramaniam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UTI Asset Management Company Ltd, at the latter’s corporate office in Mumbai.

Under the expanded collaboration, India Post will leverage its extensive postal network and last-mile connectivity to facilitate KYC verification at investors’ doorsteps, making the process more accessible and convenient for people across the country.

The initiative is also expected to help investors meet applicable regulatory requirements without facing unnecessary difficulties in completing documentation, particularly those living in areas with limited access to financial services.

Building on an earlier KYC remediation initiative that helped investors complete pending formalities, address documentation gaps and improve compliance, the renewed partnership seeks to strengthen investor servicing and facilitate smoother access to mutual fund investments.

The collaboration is expected to encourage wider participation in mutual funds by simplifying the verification process and helping investors overcome procedural barriers to accessing investment services.

The initiative also underscores India Post’s role in extending customer-centric financial services through its vast nationwide network, bringing essential services closer to citizens, including those in geographically remote locations.
