Isha Ambani, joined
by her mother Nita Ambani, hosted the inaugural NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani
Cultural Centre) dinner in Venice on the occasion of the opening of the India
Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
Set within the
historic Scuola Grande della Misericordia, the evening brought together leading
voices from the global art, culture and fashion world. What began as a
celebration of the India Pavilion unfolded into a memorable conversation
between cultures — bridging heritage and contemporary expression of the past
and present.
The evening stood as
a heartfelt tribute to artists, Indian craftsmanship, and audiences who
continue to keep creativity alive across generations and geographies.
A vision long
cherished by Nita Ambani — that India’s creative expressions should be
spotlighted on the world’s greatest stages — came alive in a remarkable manner
during the event.
At the inaugural
NMACC dinner in Venice, Isha Ambani paid tribute to her mother, describing Nita
Ambani as “a classical Indian dancer, teacher, and educator,” whose vision led
to the founding of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre as she returned to
her deepest roots.
Addressing a
distinguished gathering of artists and cultural leaders from around the world, Isha
Ambani expressed gratitude for their presence and for the shared spirit that
brought the India Pavilion to life at the 61st Venice Biennale.
Reflecting on India’s
evolving cultural dialogue with the world during the opening of the National
Pavilion of India at the prestigious international exhibition, she acknowledged
her mother’s enduring commitment to the arts, which continues to shape NMACC’s
mission of taking the best of India to the world and bringing the best of the
world to India.
Speaking about India
as “an idea of home,” Isha Ambani shared her hope for “a long conversation between
India and Venice, one that our ancestors would be proud of and our children
will inherit.”
The elegant evening celebrated art, honoured friendship, and strengthened a cultural conversation between India and the world that has only just begun.
