BHUBANESWAR, OCTOBER 13, 2026

Odisha has been conferred the prestigious ‘Wind India 2026: Leadership in Wind Energy De-risking’ award in recognition of its efforts to promote renewable energy and create a conducive environment for wind power investments, an official statement said on Tuesday.

The award was presented to Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo by Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Vishal Kumar Dev, at a ceremony in Bhubaneswar.

The state received the honour at the Windergy India 2026 conference held in Chennai on October 8. Satyapriya Rath, Managing Director of GRIDCO, had accepted the award on behalf of Odisha from Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi in the presence of industry leaders and government dignitaries.

Congratulating the officers and staff of the Energy Department, Singh Deo said the recognition reflected the state government's commitment to accelerating the clean energy transition and attracting sustainable investments under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy.

He also emphasised that the state had ambitious plans to expand its renewable energy footprint and strengthen its position in India's evolving clean energy landscape.

As part of its efforts to attract investment and highlight its wind power potential, Odisha also hosted a dedicated state session titled ‘Odisha: India's Next Wind Destination’ at Windergy India 2026.

The session sought to showcase the state's potential to national and international investors and position Odisha as an emerging destination for wind energy development.

The award comes as Odisha seeks to strengthen its renewable energy ecosystem, encourage private investment and diversify its clean energy portfolio in line with India's broader energy transition goals.

The award presentation ceremony was attended by OPTCL Chairman and Managing Director Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, GRIDCO Managing Director Satyapriya Rath and other senior officials of the Energy Department.
