The Office of the
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, in coordination with the Election
Commission of India (ECI), has intensified a statewide special drive to ensure
the enrolment of all eligible citizens, including new and left-out voters, in
the electoral rolls.
Reaffirming the
commitment that no eligible voter should be left out of the electoral roll, the
campaign covers all Assembly constituencies in the state, with a massive field
force mobilised to identify eligible citizens and facilitate their
registration.
The exercise involves
31 District Election Officers, 147 Electoral Registration Officers, 719
Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, 4,540 Booth Level Officer
Supervisors and 45,250 Booth Level Officers, who are working on the ground to
ensure comprehensive inclusion of eligible voters.
Officials said the
proactive drive would continue until the objective of ensuring that every
eligible citizen is included in the electoral roll is achieved. The initiative
is part of the Election Commission’s sustained efforts to maintain accurate,
updated and inclusive voter lists ahead of future elections.
The CEO’s office has
urged citizens to verify their names in the final electoral roll and submit
claims or objections wherever necessary. Eligible citizens whose names are
missing from the list have been encouraged to apply for enrolment without
delay.
Form-6 is available
for new voter registration, with enrolment treated as a year-round exercise,
enabling eligible new and left-out voters to apply at any time. Form-7 can be
used to raise objections to the proposed inclusion or deletion of a name in the
electoral roll, while Form-8 caters to applications concerning a change of
residence, correction of electoral details, replacement of Electors Photo
Identity Card (EPIC) and marking of persons with disabilities.
To facilitate public participation and address grievances, citizens can contact the 1950 helpline or visit designated helpdesks at the offices of District Election Officers at the district level and Electoral Registration Officers at the Assembly constituency level during office hours.
The CEO’s office has appealed to all eligible citizens to check their enrolment status and complete the necessary formalities promptly, stressing that an inclusive electoral roll is essential to ensuring every eligible voter can exercise their democratic right.
