“Odisha today is not just attracting investments; we are building destinations where industries can grow, thrive, and create lasting impact. Khordha, particularly emerging locations like Kalibeti, is witnessing a new phase of industrial growth,” Odisha Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said on Wednesday while inaugurating Epic Group’s state-of-the-art garment manufacturing unit in Khordha.

The mega textile facility, spread across 40 acres, is poised to transform Odisha’s apparel manufacturing landscape, with the potential to generate employment for around 7,050 people. The project marks a major boost to the state's fast-growing textiles and apparel sector.

Swain said the investment by Epic Group reflects rising global confidence in Odisha’s industrial ecosystem and its emergence as a preferred destination for large-scale manufacturing.

He highlighted the project’s strong social impact, particularly in empowering women through employment.

“Nearly 90 per cent of the workforce in this unit is women. This is a remarkable achievement and a powerful step towards women-led development,” Swain added.

The manufacturing campus, developed by global apparel major Epic Group, has been designed as one of India’s most advanced and sustainable garment production facilities. Once fully operational, it will manufacture 20 million garments annually for leading international markets.

Epic Group Founder and Chairman Ranjan Mahtani underscored the company's commitment to sustainable industrialisation.

“We believe that industrial progress and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. The Trimetro Manufacturing Campus is the embodiment of this belief — a model for how manufacturing can grow sustainably while contributing to the well-being of people and the planet,” he said.

Backed by an investment of US$100 million, the Trimetro Manufacturing Campus is India's first fully net-zero carbon and net-zero water garment manufacturing facility, setting new benchmarks in green manufacturing.

The landmark project also received significant financial backing from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which extended a US$100 million debt financing package in 2024. The package included a sustainability-linked loan and a green loan with sustainability-linked features, reinforcing the project's global sustainability credentials.
