Mobile telephony continued to anchor the digital economy in Odisha in
2025, with telecom operators collectively earning around Rs 8,729 crore from
subscribers, according to a report released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority
of India (TRAI). The data underlines the growing dependence on mobile
connectivity, as consumers in the State spent an average of nearly Rs 24 crore
every day, translating to roughly Rs 1 crore every hour on telecom services.
Reliance Jio emerged as the clear market leader in revenue terms,
garnering Rs 4,470 crore during the year. Bharti Airtel followed with earnings
of Rs 3,269 crore, while BSNL posted revenues of Rs 760 crore. Vodafone Idea
collected Rs 212 crore and Tata Teleservices reported a modest Rs 18 crore from
the Odisha circle.
The revenue market share figures further reflected Jio’s dominance, as it
accounted for 52.32 per cent of the total telecom earnings in the State. Airtel
secured a strong second position with 37.38 per cent, while BSNL held 7.60 per
cent. Vodafone Idea’s share stood at 2.48 per cent and Tata Teleservices had a
marginal presence of 0.2 per cent.
Subscriber data also mirrored the revenue hierarchy. Odisha’s total mobile user base reached 3,72,62,298 by December 2025, highlighting deep telecom penetration across urban and rural regions alike. Jio led with 1,72,54,138 subscribers, followed by Airtel with 1,29,99,819 users. BSNL maintained a base of 55,18,354 subscribers, whereas Vodafone Idea’s customer count stood at 14,89,987.
The steady rise in both subscriber numbers and spending points to increasing smartphone adoption, data consumption and digital service usage across the State.
