“Our linemen are the backbone of the
organisation. They work in challenging conditions to keep power supply
uninterrupted. Their dedication and discipline keep the network strong. Safety
must always remain our top priority. Every employee should return home safely,”
said Arvind Singh, CEO of TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL),
while addressing employees during the Lineman Diwas celebration in Bhubaneswar.
TPCODL, a joint
venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, celebrated Lineman Diwas to
honour the dedication, courage and service of its frontline workforce. The
occasion also marked the inauguration of the 55th National Safety Day and the
launch of National Safety Month initiatives across its operational areas. In
alignment with the 55th National Safety Day, TPCODL will observe Safety Month
from 4th March to 3rd April 2026, reinforcing its commitment to making safety a
fundamental part of its work culture and everyday operations. The observance
will be held at 259 locations, including all section offices, divisions, MRT
units and the corporate office.
Linemen from
different divisions participated in the programme with great pride and
enthusiasm. The event recognised the vital role they play in maintaining a
stable and dependable power supply. Around five linemen were felicitated for
their outstanding dedication and commitment to duty. These frontline workers
often operate in difficult conditions such as extreme weather, remote locations
and urgent repair situations to ensure electricity reaches every consumer
without interruption.
The programme began
with a Flag Hoisting Ceremony, symbolising TPCODL’s strong commitment to safety
and discipline at the workplace. A Safety Oath was administered to reaffirm the
collective pledge of employees to follow all safety protocols in their daily
operations. As part of the observance, a Pinning of Badge ceremony was also
held to remind employees of their personal responsibility towards maintaining a
safe working environment. The event also included Lineman Felicitation,
recognising the outstanding contributions and dedication of frontline linemen
who play a crucial role in maintaining reliable power supply.
Highlighting TPCODL’s Zero Harm Mission, CEO Singh stressed that safety should not only be seen as a rule, but as a shared responsibility for everyone in the organisation.
The event also included interactive sessions where field staff shared their real-life experiences and the challenges they face while maintaining the power network. The ceremony was attended by members of the senior leadership team and colleagues from across the organisation.
