Surya Roshni Limited, one of India’s most trusted brands in lighting,

and steel pipes, participated in the launch of Lighting a Billion Lives (LaBL)
2.0 at the “Dinner of Hope” hosted by The Energy and Resources Institute. The
initiative was unveiled on Thursday, at Taj Palace Hotel, Diplomatic Enclave,
New Delhi, as part of the World Sustainable Development Summit 2026 – Silver
Jubilee Edition.
LaBL 2.0 builds on TERI’s globally recognised initiative that has
impacted over 15 million lives and is now reimagined to address evolving
challenges in energy access, climate resilience and livelihood generation.
Endorsed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, the
programme is structured to scale decentralised clean energy solutions through
community-driven models and climate-responsive innovation.
During the pledge segment of the evening, Surya Roshni showcased its
advanced Solar LED lighting solutions as part of the symbolic “Press the Light
for LaBL” moment. Positioned as the core activation of the event, this segment
featured a live pledge counter and ceremonial light activation, reinforcing a
collective commitment to expanding sustainable energy access across underserved
geographies.
The programme began with welcome remarks and an opening address by Dr
Vibha Dhawan, Director-General, TERI, followed by a special address by Santosh
Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE. The evening also marked the launch of the
TERI–MNRE joint policy paper, unveiling of LaBL 2.0’s mission and vision, logo
and website launch, and screening of the vision film. Ministerial addresses and
high-level dignitary engagements underscored the national and global
significance of the platform.
