Tata Steel India’s crude steel production rose 10 per cent year-on-year to 6.21 million tonnes in the second quarter of the current fiscal, aided by higher output from its Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar facilities, the company said on Wednesday.

Production in the July-September quarter was up 8 per cent sequentially. On a half-year basis, crude steel production increased 10 per cent year-on-year to 11.97 million tonnes.

India deliveries stood at 5.97 million tonnes during the quarter, registering a 15 per cent rise from the preceding quarter and a 7 per cent increase year-on-year. The growth was supported by an enriched product mix and stable demand across market segments despite the seasonal rains.

For the first half of the fiscal, deliveries rose 8 per cent year-on-year to 11.14 million tonnes.

Tata Steel’s Automotive & Special Products vertical recorded its best-ever second-quarter volumes of around 1.1 million tonnes, up 9 per cent sequentially and 19 per cent year-on-year. The growth was driven by the ramp-up of the Continuous Annealing and Galvanising lines at Kalinganagar and the Combi mill at Jamshedpur.

The Branded Products & Retail vertical also achieved its best-ever quarterly volumes of around 2.2 million tonnes, supported by strong performance of established brands and continued market penetration.

Tata Tiscon recorded its best-ever quarterly volumes, growing 7 per cent sequentially, while Tata Kosh, the company’s galvanised brand, registered a 25 per cent quarter-on-quarter increase.

The Construction & Solutions vertical recorded volumes of around 0.6 million tonnes, with ready-to-use solutions growing 32 per cent year-on-year. The Engineering and Packaging vertical reported volumes of around 0.4 million tonnes, up 12 per cent sequentially, driven by higher sales to the oil and gas sector.

Tata Steel said its downstream sales, including cold-rolled, galvanised products, tubes, tinplate, wires and colours, continued to grow. Colors posted its best-ever quarterly volumes, rising 34 per cent sequentially.

Gross merchandise value generated through the company’s e-commerce platforms, Tata Steel Aashiyana and DigECA, stood at Rs 2,860 crore during the quarter, up 30 per cent from the preceding quarter.

In Europe, Tata Steel Netherlands produced around 1.52 million tonnes of liquid steel in the second quarter, while deliveries stood at around 1.30 million tonnes. The Direct Sheet Plant restarted in August 2026 and is operating at rated capacity under the agreed framework with local regulatory authorities.

On a half-year basis, production in the Netherlands stood at 3.07 million tonnes, while deliveries were 2.70 million tonnes.

Tata Steel UK is currently serving customers through downstream processing of purchased substrate. Deliveries during the quarter stood at 0.38 million tonnes, impacted by inventory buildup in the UK supply chain ahead of the implementation of new safeguard measures from July 1, 2026.

The company said it has separately fully ramped up production at the Llanwern pickle line.

In Thailand, Tata Steel reported saleable steel production of 0.32 million tonnes in the quarter, while deliveries stood at 0.31 million tonnes. Deliveries were marginally lower sequentially, primarily due to heavy rains in September 2026.

The company’s operational performance comes against a backdrop of resilient domestic demand, with higher production and deliveries in India as well as strong growth across branded, automotive and downstream product segments.
