TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has stepped up proactive measures to ensure reliable power supply and efficient management of peak demand during the upcoming summer season. The company expects a peak demand of 1,555 MW across its operational areas this year. With a strong focus on preventive maintenance, advanced technology adoption and consumer safety, TPNODL is further intensifying efforts to deliver consistent and quality power supply across Northern Odisha.

Key initiatives include the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as infrared cameras, drone-based audits and ultrasound scanning to enable condition-based monitoring and timely fault resolution, thereby minimizing the risk of unexpected outages. A dedicated workforce of over 7,000 personnel deployed under the annual maintenance contract is actively monitoring and maintaining substations, lines, network elements and distribution transformers to ensure seamless operations and sustained quality power supply.

The company has also operationalised a 24x7 Power System Control Centre, supported by satellite control rooms at division and circle levels, enabling real-time monitoring and faster response to disruptions. Safety officers at divisional levels are enforcing strict adherence to safety protocols, while priority restoration plans are in place to ensure uninterrupted supply to critical establishments, including hospitals, public health centres and district headquarters. Emergency preparedness has been strengthened through adequate manpower, logistical support, essential equipment and material readiness.

Network upgradation measures include the strengthening of 724.2 Ckm of 11kV and 222.7 Ckm of 33kV conductors, conversion of bare conductors to AB cables, upgradation of distribution transformers and installation of cyclone-resilient spun concrete poles along the coastal belt. Extensive tree trimming is being carried out as a regular pre-summer activity to prevent line interruptions. The implementation of underground cabling is further enhancing network resilience. Overhead fault passage indicators are being deployed for faster fault detection and quicker restoration, reducing downtime significantly. TPNODL is also leveraging advanced technical interventions, including power transformer health indexing, on-site overhauling and SCADA-enabled monitoring centres in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Baripada, to strengthen operational excellence and ensure timely maintenance.

Gajanan Kale, Chief – Odisha Distribution Business and CEO, TPNODL, stated that the company's proactive measures, backed by advanced technology and dedicated manpower are aimed at ensuring reliable power supply during the peak summer period. He also emphasized TPNODL's commitment in delivering quality services while prioritizing consumer safety and operational excellence.
