BERHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 26, 2026
Reinforcing its commitment to safety,
capability building and workforce development, TP Southern Odisha Distribution
Limited (TPSODL) inaugurated a state-of-the-art Hands-On Technical Training
Centre (HoTT) at Jeypore in Koraput district. The facility was formally
inaugurated by TPSODL CEO Amit Kumar Garg.
The HoTT Centre, established under the aegis
of the TPSODL Safety and Skill Development Institute (TSSDI), marks a major
milestone in the company’s “Mission Zero Harm” initiative. It underscores
TPSODL’s focused strategy to create a highly skilled, safety-conscious and
future-ready workforce across its operational footprint.
Designed for employees and Business
Associates, the centre delivers a structured blend of classroom instruction and
practical exposure. Its training framework prioritizes real-time simulation of
field conditions alongside intensive hands-on technical practice.
At the heart of the facility is a modern
practice yard featuring replicas of Low Tension (LT) and High Tension (HT)
networks. This simulated infrastructure enables linemen and technical personnel
to gain direct experience in equipment handling and operational execution
within a safe and controlled setting prior to field deployment.
The centre offers comprehensive training
modules covering RMU operations, auto-recloser handling, sectionalizer
operations, distribution transformer maintenance, proper earthing techniques
and insulation resistance testing. It also houses a dedicated TSSDI classroom,
a fully equipped conference hall, an Electrical Equipment Demonstration Gallery
and a well-developed practice yard that supports immersive technical learning.
All essential amenities have been incorporated to ensure a professional and
effective training environment.
Safety awareness has been deeply embedded
across the campus through impactful wall art, visual communication boards and
instructional displays, reinforcing safe work practices and strengthening
accountability at every level.
Addressing the gathering, CEO Amit Kumar Garg
said, “Safety and skill excellence remain central to our operations at TPSODL.
The Jeypore HoTT Centre represents a strategic investment in our workforce.
Structured practical exposure in a simulated environment enhances technical
capability and strengthens our zero-harm commitment. Our objective is clear —
build confident, competent teams that deliver reliable power with the highest
safety standards.”
With the commissioning of the Jeypore facility, TPSODL now operates 16 TSSDI centres and three advanced HoTT centres across its license area. The earlier HoTT centres at Berhampur and Phulbani have strengthened workforce capability in their respective regions, while the addition of Jeypore further expands the company’s robust training ecosystem.
Through sustained investment in safety infrastructure and human capital development, TPSODL continues to set higher benchmarks in the power distribution sector and remains committed to delivering reliable, efficient and safe power supply across Southern Odisha. The inauguration was attended by senior officials and colleagues.
