NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 8, 2026

Mining and metals major Vedanta Ltd. on Thursday announced an interim dividend of ₹5 per equity share for 2026-27, entailing a total payout of about ₹1,955 crore, as the company enters a new phase following the demerger of its businesses.

The dividend, the first interim payout by Vedanta after the demerger, underscores the company’s focus on shareholder returns while it pursues growth as a more focused and diversified natural resources enterprise, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The record date for determining shareholders eligible for the dividend has been fixed as October 14, 2026, with the payment to be made within the timelines prescribed under law.

The announcement follows a strong operational performance in the second quarter of FY27, with Vedanta reporting broad-based momentum across its businesses. The company recorded record quarterly as well as half-yearly production across key operations, with particularly strong performance in zinc, ferro alloys, ports and aluminium.

According to the company, the performance reflects the benefits of capacity expansion, improved operational efficiencies and investments across its portfolio. The strong operating performance, it said, provides a foundation for its growth and cash-generation ambitions, while the dividend demonstrates its ability to balance investments in expansion with shareholder distributions.

Vedanta has maintained a substantial dividend payout in recent years. In 2025-26, it declared ₹34 per share through three interim dividends, compared with a dividend of ₹43.50 per share in 2024-25.

The company had reported a 71.8 per cent increase in consolidated net profit to ₹5,473 crore for the quarter ended June 2026, supported by higher sales amid rising global metal prices and a lower exchange rate of the rupee. Its consolidated net profit stood at ₹3,185 crore in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.

Revenue from operations in the first quarter of FY27 increased 53.6 per cent to ₹24,205 crore from ₹15,754 crore in the year-earlier period. Expenses during the quarter rose to ₹17,558 crore from ₹13,203 crore.

Vedanta Ltd. is a global producer of metals, critical minerals and technology.
