MUMBAI, APRIL 29, 2026

Mining and metals giant Vedanta Limited is poised to enter a transformative new phase, with the company set to file for stock exchange approval next week for the listing of its demerged entities. The newly created companies are expected to be listed and begin trading by mid-June, marking a significant milestone in Vedanta's strategic restructuring journey.

Announcing the development during the company's Q4 FY26 Investor Call on Wednesday, Vedanta Resources CEO Deshnee Naidoo said the demerger process has entered its final leg.

"In the next week, we will be filing with the exchanges for listing approval. The shares of the resulting companies are expected to list and commence trading by mid-June," she said.

Vedanta's Board had earlier approved the demerger, effective May 1, paving the way for the creation of five independent, sector-focused pure-play companies. The move is aimed at unlocking shareholder value, enhancing operational agility, and enabling each business vertical to pursue its own growth strategy while attracting specialised investors.

Vedanta CFO Ajay Goel said the company has fixed May 1 as the record date for the demerger. Shareholders holding one Vedanta share as of April 29 will receive four additional shares in the newly carved-out entities.

"We are targeting listing and commencement of trading of these shares by the first quarter of FY'27," he said.

As part of the restructuring, Vedanta will separately list four businesses — Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited (VAML), Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd (TSPL), Malco Energy Ltd (MEL), and Vedanta Iron and Steel Limited (VISL). Under the approved composite scheme of arrangement, existing Vedanta shareholders will receive equity shares in each of these four companies in a 1:1 ratio.

The demerger is expected to create sharper business focus, improve capital allocation, and provide investors with direct exposure to Vedanta's diversified portfolio across key sectors including aluminium, power, energy, and iron and steel.
