A vibrant confluence of art and patriotism marked the conclusion of a three-day painting camp titled “Vande Mataram” at Shakuntala Gallery, organised to commemorate 150 years of the iconic national song Vande Mataram.

Hosted by Sanskar Bharati’s Visual Art Department (Utkal Purva Prant) with support from the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, Government of Odisha, the camp brought together 35 artists from across the state. Each participant offered unique visual interpretations of the timeless composition, blending tradition with contemporary expression.

Renowned artists including Priyadarshini Mohanty, Biswanath Barik, Rajesh Nayak, Rajkishore Nayak, Mamata Samantaray, Nirod Nalini Behera, Soumya Ranjan Pattnaik, Santosh Maharana, Dr. Durga Madhab Kar, Lipishree Nayak, Shyam Sundar Tali, Bandana Panda, Namita Sahu, and Tejaswini Samantsinghar were among those who showcased their works, reflecting diverse artistic perspectives rooted in cultural pride.

The concluding ceremony was graced by eminent personalities such as Dr. Chandrasekhar Hota, Secretary, Odisha Sahitya Akademi; Padma Shri Binod Maharana; Niranjan Panda, all-India Head of Folk Arts, Sanskar Bharati; and Nitai Charan Nanda, Vice-President, Sanskar Bharati Odisha, who highlighted the enduring emotional and cultural resonance of “Vande Mataram” in India’s artistic and national consciousness.

The camp, coordinated by Sthitadhi Rath, Visual Art Convenor, Sanskar Bharati, Utkal Purva Prant, culminated in a collective rendition of “Vande Mataram” led by Pradeep Pande, creating a moment of shared artistic and patriotic spirit.

A formal vote of thanks was delivered by Janardan Paramaguru, Director of Shakuntala Palace Art Gallery, acknowledging the contributions of artists, organisers, and guests.
