In a significant stride towards
digital governance and citizen-centric service delivery, the Cuttack
Development Authority (CDA) has gone cashless by introducing a comprehensive
Digital Payment Facility at its office premises in Arunodaya Bhawan, Link Road,
Cuttack. The move marks a decisive shift towards faster, more transparent and
hassle-free financial transactions for the public.
Implemented on a priority basis
in public interest, the new system aims to streamline payment processes, reduce
manual handling of cash and reinforce transparency in financial operations.
With the introduction of Point of Sale (PoS) facilities at the CDA office,
allottees, licensees and applicants can now make payments of up to Rs 5 Lakh
through QR Code, UPI and card swipe modes, significantly simplifying the
payment experience.
To support this initiative, a
dedicated Digital Payment Cell has been made operational at the Finance Branch
single-window counter. This specialised cell will act as the nodal point for
all digital transactions, ensuring efficiency, accountability and real-time
processing of payments. As part of the new protocol, cash deposits for demands
up to Rs 5 Lakh will no longer be accepted, reinforcing CDA’s commitment to a
fully cashless ecosystem for routine transactions.
In order to maintain proper
records and ensure institutional transparency, all branch officers have been
directed to submit copies of every demand letter to the Digital Payment Cell.
This step is expected to improve coordination among departments while
strengthening internal checks and balances.
CDA Vice-Chairperson Kirandeep
Kaur Sahota underscored the importance of the initiative, stating, “The
introduction of the digital payment system will bring greater transparency and
efficiency in office functioning. It will significantly expedite payments and
save valuable time for allottees, who will no longer be required to visit banks
repeatedly for obtaining demand drafts for smaller amounts, as the QR code
transaction limit has been enhanced to Rs 5 Lakh. This citizen-friendly
initiative reflects CDA’s commitment to simplified procedures, improved service
delivery and adoption of technology-driven governance.”
