KIIT
Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU) on Monday signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army to provide higher education
opportunities to serving and retired Army personnel and their wards in
engineering, medical, and other academic programmes.
The
MoU was signed between Brigadier Thakur Mayank Sinha, Brigadier Welfare, Army
Headquarters, on behalf of the Indian Army, and Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice
Chancellor, KIIT-DU, Bhubaneswar.
Under
the agreement, KIIT-DU will offer a 50 per cent concession in tuition fees for
wards of serving and retired Indian Army personnel across all programmes,
except medical courses, where a 10 per cent concession will be provided.
Additionally, wards of Army personnel who attained Veergati will receive a 100
per cent tuition fee waiver for all programmes, excluding Medical Science and
Dental Science.
Candidates
seeking admission to Medical and Dental Science programmes must fulfil NEET
eligibility criteria. For all other programmes, applicants must qualify through
the KIIT Entrance Examination (KIITEE).
Welcoming
the dignitaries, Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT-DU, highlighted
the significance of the partnership.
Speaking
on the occasion, Prof. Saranjit Singh said, "The primary objective of this
MoU is to ensure quality education and meaningful financial support for the
wards of Indian Army personnel."
Brigadier Thakur Mayank Sinha praised the world-class infrastructure and facilities at KIIT and KISS. He also expressed gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT, KISS and KIMS, for recognising the invaluable contribution of Indian Army personnel to nation-building and extending these educational benefits.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Brigadier Sinha paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Samanta and commended his visionary leadership in promoting inclusive education and contributing to the nation's development.
