In
a major push to transform regional infrastructure and ease mounting traffic
congestion in Odisha’s urban corridor, the National Highways Authority of India
(NHAI) has issued the Letter of Award (LOA) for the ambitious six-lane
access-controlled Greenfield Capital Region Ring Road (Bhubaneswar Bypass)
Project. Spanning 111 kilometres from Rameshwar to Tangi, the project will be
developed in three packages under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) and is targeted
for completion within 30 months from commencement.
Designed
with a high-speed corridor of 100 kmph, the Capital Region Ring Road is poised
to redefine mobility across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Khordha by significantly
decongesting city traffic and creating a seamless bypass for long-distance
vehicles. The project is expected to lower logistics costs, stimulate regional
trade, generate substantial employment opportunities and catalyse long-term
economic growth, while ensuring safer and more sustainable travel.
Package–I
has been awarded to M/s Patel Infrastructure Limited for constructing a 40-km
six-lane stretch with paved shoulders from Rameshwar to Bilipada. The scope of
work includes 12.4 km-long service roads on each side, two interchanges, one
railway overbridge (ROB), 10 minor bridges, 142 culverts, one wayside amenity,
seven elevated underpasses and eight vehicular and light vehicular underpasses.
Package–II
has been awarded to VRC Constructions (India) Limited for a 30-km six-lane
section from Bilipada to Gobindpur. The package comprises 7.2 km-long service
roads on both sides, three interchanges, 11 minor bridges, 90 culverts, one
wayside amenity, three elevated underpasses and multiple vehicular underpasses,
ensuring smooth local and highway traffic integration.
Package–III has been entrusted to HG Infra Engineering Limited for the development of a 40-km six-lane stretch from Gobindpur to Tangi near Bandola Toll Plaza. The package also includes 10 km-long service and slip roads on either side, one interchange, 23 minor bridges, 69 culverts, one wayside amenity, two elevated underpasses and several vehicular underpasses to facilitate uninterrupted movement.
Once completed, the access-controlled ring road will serve as a transformative infrastructure backbone for Odisha’s capital region, strengthening connectivity between key economic nodes and unlocking new avenues for industrial expansion, real estate development and logistics efficiency.
