The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, on Saturday announced the results of the Annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examination 2026, recording an impressive overall pass percentage of 95.33 per cent.

In a major student-friendly initiative, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond also announced that matriculation certificates will be issued in both Odia and English from this year.

A total of 5,36,306 regular students appeared for the examination across the State, out of whom 5,19,251 successfully cleared it. The results once again highlighted the stellar performance of girl students, who outshone boys with a pass percentage of 96.37 per cent, compared to 94.03 per cent among boys.

Adding to the remarkable achievement, as many as 3,310 schools in Odisha recorded a 100 per cent pass result, underlining the consistent improvement in the quality of secondary education across the State.

The results were formally unveiled at the BSE headquarters in Cuttack by School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond. The event was attended by Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the department Dr N. Thirumala Naik, BSE President Srikant Tarai, Vice-President Amulya Kumar Pradhan, Secretary Saroj Kumar Behera, and Controller of Examinations Dharanidhar Patro.

This year, 5,44,670 students had filled up forms for the regular examination, while 5,36,307 finally appeared. Of the successful candidates, 2,456 secured A1 grade, 15,681 obtained A2, 43,565 achieved B1, and 86,103 were placed in B2. Similarly, 1,29,813 students secured C grade, 1,46,152 obtained D grade, and 95,481 passed with E grade.

In the Madhyama examination, 3,358 students had registered, while 2,982 appeared. The pass percentage stood at an impressive 87.30 per cent. Likewise, in the State Open School Certificate Examination (SOCS), 10,043 students appeared, with 7,405 passing the examination, resulting in a pass percentage of 59.82 per cent.

District-wise, Gajapati emerged as the best-performing district with an outstanding pass percentage of 99.31 per cent, while Keonjhar recorded the lowest at 94.35 per cent.

Among other districts, Ganjam posted 98.25 per cent, Kandhamal 98.17 per cent, Jagatsinghpur 97.89 per cent, Jharsuguda 97.89 per cent, Kalahandi 97.86 per cent, Nuapada 97.87 per cent, Sambalpur 97.79 per cent, Balasore 97.71 per cent, Mayurbhanj 97.52 per cent, Sundargarh 97.48 per cent, Nabarangpur 97.40 per cent, Cuttack 97.22 per cent, Khurda 97.17 per cent, Puri 96.80 per cent, Nayagarh 96.68 per cent, Bolangir 96.68 per cent, Koraput 96.58 per cent, Rayagada 96.50 per cent, Bargarh 96.41 per cent, Deogarh 96.26 per cent, Subarnapur 96.21 per cent, Bhadrak 96.01 per cent, Kendrapara 95.97 per cent, Malkangiri 95.62 per cent, Boudh 95.58 per cent, Angul 95.55 per cent, Jajpur 94.62 per cent and Dhenkanal 94.53 per cent.

Students can access their results online at the official BSE Odisha website www.bseodisha.ac.in. For those without internet access, results can also be obtained via SMS by typing OR10 <Roll Number> and sending it to 5676750.

Candidates seeking rechecking of answer scripts can apply between May 11 and May 22. High School Certificate students must apply online, while Madhyama and SOCS candidates will have to submit their applications offline.

Applications for the supplementary examination will be accepted online through the BSE Odisha website from May 8 to May 18. The supplementary examinations are scheduled to be held in the first week of July.

The outstanding results once again reflect Odisha's growing academic excellence and the State government's sustained efforts to strengthen school education and ensure better learning outcomes for students across all districts.
