The Odisha government has stepped up its industrialisation drive with
Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain conducting a detailed review of
departmental activities and directing officials to fast-track the execution of
approved investment proposals.
The high-level meeting, attended by the Additional Chief Secretary of the
Industries Department Hemanta Sharma, along with senior functionaries of IDCO
and IPICOL, focused on strategies to ensure the swift grounding of projects
cleared by the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) and the State Level Single
Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA).
The minister instructed all agencies to work in a coordinated, time-bound
manner to achieve defined targets and translate approvals into on-ground
investments. He set a goal for the department to ensure that projects involving
more than ₹3 lakh crore in investment are either inaugurated
or have their foundation stones laid by June 2026, coinciding with the completion of two years of the
BJP government in the state.
Highlighting the central role of industrialisation in driving Odisha’s
economic progress, Swain said that a total of 394 projects have so far been
approved by the SLSWCA and HLCA, attracting investment commitments worth ₹8.15 lakh
crore with the potential to generate employment for over five lakh people.
Of these, projects involving investments of more than ₹2.4 lakh crore have already been inaugurated or have had their foundation stones laid across 108 units, which are expected to create nearly 1.75 lakh jobs.
The minister emphasised that the government is committed to accelerating the implementation of the remaining projects to unlock large-scale employment opportunities for the state’s youth and reinforce Odisha’s position as a leading industrial destination.
