Renowned Indian fashion house Satya
Paul brought its rich legacy of print, drape and artistic expression to the
global spotlight with a landmark showcase at Lancaster House in London as part
of SXSW London. The presentation, held under the creative direction of Aseem
Kapoor, also marked the international debut of Satya Paul Menswear, opening a
new chapter in the brand’s evolution while reinforcing its position as a
pioneer of print-led design.
Presented following an invitation from
the UK Department for Business and Trade, the showcase reflected Satya Paul’s
evolving creative philosophy through an immersive experience that seamlessly
blended fashion, art, movement and live performance. Fluid drapes, striking
prints and artistic storytelling transformed the historic venue into a vibrant
canvas where heritage and contemporary design converged.
Titled Untamed, the showcase celebrated instinctive self-expression and
creative freedom, values that have long defined the Satya Paul identity.
Through a compelling interplay of print, drape, movement and sound, the
presentation offered audiences an immersive cultural experience that pushed the
boundaries of traditional fashion showcases.
At the heart of the presentation was
the saree, a timeless symbol and enduring muse for the brand. Reimagined
through layered, sculptural and fluid drapes, the collection drew inspiration
from the natural world, forgotten histories and ancient sculptural traditions
across the Indian subcontinent. Vibrant prints merged with evolving silhouettes
that highlighted movement, individuality and freedom.
The showcase further underscored Satya
Paul’s mastery of printmaking, featuring collections that fused archival motifs
with a contemporary visual language. Signature elements such as reinterpreted
zebra motifs, expressive bird illustrations and graphic dot-and-stripe patterns
were translated into dynamic draped silhouettes and statement separates. Rich
colour stories, experimental draping and artistic forms highlighted the
transformative power of print in a manner that felt immersive, contemporary and
globally relevant.
A major highlight of the event was the
introduction of Satya Paul Menswear, which extends the brand’s artistic
identity into modern menswear. Designed around individuality and
self-expression, the collection presents contemporary silhouettes inspired by
themes of exploration, memory and personal storytelling. Distinct print
narratives such as Traveller and Collector were showcased through coordinated separates,
statement outerwear and occasion-focused ensembles.
Actor Danish Pandor walked the
showcase, embodying the confidence, creativity and modern perspective that
define the evolving Satya Paul universe.
Adding another dimension to the event,
acclaimed percussionist, composer and producer Sarathy Korwar joined British
Tamil movement artist Hashna Siva for a specially commissioned performance.
Combining Indian percussion, classical Bharatanatyam and contemporary movement,
the duo created a captivating dialogue between rhythm, sound and expression,
enriching the immersive atmosphere of the presentation.
“At Satya Paul, print has never simply been a
surface treatment; it has always been a point of view. For decades, the brand
has used print as a language to express individuality, emotion and cultural
storytelling. Presenting this legacy in London was about bringing that spirit
onto a global stage while exploring how Indian design can continue to evolve in
a way that feels contemporary, immersive and universally relevant,” said Aseem
Kapoor, Creative Director, Satya Paul.
For Satya Paul, London served as more
than a showcase destination. As one of the world’s leading centres for creative
exchange, the city provided an ideal setting for a brand that has consistently
existed at the intersection of art, culture and self-expression. The
presentation reinforced Satya Paul’s belief that Indian design can remain
deeply rooted in heritage while confidently engaging with global creative
communities, further strengthening its international presence and artistic
vision.
