Department disburses ₹208.35 crore interest subvention to over 2.67 lakh SHGs

Declaring that women are now leading
the State’s development journey, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on
Tuesday announced the disbursement of ₹208.35
crore as interest subvention to over 2.67 lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs),
reinforcing the Government of Odisha’s commitment to women-led development aligned with
the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Speaking at a special programme held
at Mission Shakti Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister
of Mission Shakti emphasised that women have evolved from beneficiaries of
welfare initiatives to powerful drivers of socio-economic transformation. She
stated that economically empowered SHG members are not only strengthening
household incomes but also contributing significantly to the State’s inclusive
growth trajectory. Urging women to make optimal use of financial support
extended under various schemes, she encouraged them to reinvest their earnings
productively, enhance financial literacy, and remain alert to the growing
threat of cyber crimes.
During the programme, the Deputy Chief
Minister virtually interacted with SHG members and officials from Koraput,
Balasore, Kalahandi, Ganjam and Keonjhar districts to review grassroots
implementation of government initiatives and ensure that interest subvention
benefits have effectively reached intended beneficiaries. She also engaged with
Bank Mitras, Krushi Mitras, Pashu Mitras and other grassroots functionaries to
assess the impact of various interventions aimed at strengthening rural
livelihoods.
As part of the financial support
package, interest subvention amounting to ₹208.35
crore was disbursed to 2,67,131 SHGs across the State against their bank-linked
loans. In the financial year 2025–26 alone, a cumulative ₹724.39 crore has been
reimbursed as interest subvention to 3,80,763 SHGs, underlining the scale of the
State’s commitment to strengthening women-led enterprises.
Further reinforcing grassroots
institutions, ₹6.43 crore was provided as Revolving
Fund to 3,510 SHGs, while ₹57.05 crore was disbursed as Community Investment
Fund to 180 Gram Panchayat
Level Federations (GPLFs). An additional ₹1.40
crore was extended to 101 Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) under the
Vulnerability Reduction Fund to support economically vulnerable groups and
enhance livelihood resilience.
The programme was attended by Commissioner-cum-Secretary
of Mission Shakti Mansi Nimbhal, Joint Secretary Mamata B., Additional
Secretary Jyoti Shankar Mohapatra, General Manager of UCO Bank Bhagwat Singh
Bhakuni, along with senior officials of Mission Shakti and allied institutions.
A large number of SHG members, executive committee representatives and
district-level officials participated virtually, highlighting the widespread
reach and impact of the initiative aimed at accelerating women-led development
across Odisha.
