Reliance Jio further
strengthened its position as Odisha’s leading digital service provider in
August 2026, accounting for nearly 86 per cent of the state’s net addition in
mobile subscribers during the month, according to the latest telecom
subscription data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Jio added 1.6 lakh
mobile subscribers in Odisha during August, significantly ahead of other
operators. The company also added more than 14,800 home broadband subscribers
during the month, further expanding its presence across the state’s broadband
market.
The total mobile
subscriber base in Odisha increased by more than 1.84 lakh in August to reach
3.92 crore as of August 31, 2026, according to TRAI data.
Jio recorded the
highest addition of mobile subscribers in the state during the month, followed
by Airtel with 12,960 additions. BSNL added 8,187 subscribers, while Vodafone
Idea added 3,904 subscribers.
Jio also maintained
its lead in Odisha’s Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) segment. Its JioAirFiber
service had more than 4.36 lakh subscribers as of August 31, giving the company
an 82 per cent subscriber market share in the state’s FWA segment. More than 80
per cent of new FWA home broadband subscribers added in Odisha during August
joined the Jio network, according to the company’s interpretation of the TRAI
data.
With the addition of
more than 14,800 home broadband subscribers in August, Jio’s combined JioFiber
and JioAirFiber subscriber base in Odisha crossed 8.21 lakh. This included 3.84
lakh JioFiber subscribers and more than 4.36 lakh JioAirFiber subscribers.
Jio’s overall
subscriber base in Odisha now stands at more than 1.86 crore mobile subscribers
and over 8.21 lakh home broadband subscribers. The company holds a 48 per cent
subscriber market share in wireless services, 60 per cent in wireline services
and 82 per cent in the FWA segment, based on the latest TRAI data.
Jio has also expanded
high-speed broadband connectivity across smaller towns and rural areas of
Odisha, extending digital services to households beyond major urban centres.
At the national
level, Jio added more than 24 lakh mobile subscribers and over 5.66 lakh home
broadband subscribers in August 2026, according to TRAI data. The company also
had more than 94 lakh subscribers in the 5G Fixed Wireless Access segment and
remained the sole provider of UBR fixed-wireless services in the country.
With its expanding 4G
and 5G network, broadband infrastructure and digital services portfolio, Jio
continues to expand connectivity across urban and rural parts of Odisha.
