Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has been conferred the M.K. Rout Pollution Control Appreciation Award 2026 in the Industrial Township category by the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB). The award recognises Vedanta Meadows, the company’s modern residential township for employees in Jharsuguda, for its efforts to integrate responsible environmental practices into township planning, green infrastructure and everyday living.

The recognition reflects Vedanta Aluminium’s broader sustainability efforts in Jharsuguda, encompassing environmental stewardship, biodiversity conservation, responsible resource management, process controls and community awareness. Designed by expert architects with a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility, Vedanta Meadows features sustainable design elements, extensive green spaces and efficient environmental management systems aimed at creating a healthy and pleasant living environment for employees and their families.

Vedanta Aluminium is also extending its environmental awareness initiatives beyond its core operations. Recently, the company partnered with the Regional Office of the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Jharsuguda, and the District Administration to organise the Environmental Awareness Campaign 2026 at PKSS Higher Secondary School, H. Katapali. The campaign featured plantation drives, cleanliness initiatives, awareness sessions, street plays and community engagement activities aimed at encouraging sustainable practices among students and local residents.

The company is further strengthening biodiversity conservation and enhancing green cover across its areas of operation through initiatives such as Matrivan, its tree plantation project. At the same time, Vedanta Aluminium is deploying technology-driven solutions to improve resource efficiency and reduce the carbon intensity of its operations.
