Global wireless
communication modules and artificial intelligence solutions provider Fibocom on
Friday showcased its latest Internet of Things (IoT), 5G connectivity and edge
AI technologies at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, as the company looks to
strengthen its presence in India amid rising demand for connected devices
across energy, mobility and broadband sectors.
The company presented
a portfolio spanning 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), smart metering, vehicle
and asset tracking, satellite-based positioning and AI-enabled devices,
highlighting its focus on helping customers move from product development and
pilot projects to commercial production and large-scale deployment.
Fibocom's FWA
portfolio featured 5G modules and customer premises equipment (CPE), outdoor
units (ODUs) and MiFi solutions, while demonstrations of smart meters, vehicle
tracking devices and electric vehicle (EV) battery trackers showcased the
expanding role of cellular connectivity in industry-specific applications.
In the smart energy
segment, Fibocom provides 4G connectivity for GridCrest's smart meter solution
for the Indian market. The technology enables electricity consumption data and
device event information to be transmitted over mobile networks to utility
management platforms, facilitating remote meter reading and monitoring.
The company also
highlighted its efforts to address India's localisation requirements, with
products supporting local frequency bands and the country's Navigation with
Indian Constellation (NavIC) satellite navigation system.
Its mass-produced MGB
series of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) modules caters to varied
positioning requirements, with dual-frequency variants supporting capabilities
such as NavIC and real-time kinematic (RTK) positioning.
As IoT deployments
expand beyond pilot programmes, Fibocom is also focusing on
application-specific devices through partnerships with local technology
companies.
At IMC 2026, the
company and Indian IoT original design manufacturer Grid-OS jointly showcased
devices for payment and vehicle tracking applications, combining Fibocom's
wireless connectivity technologies with Grid-OS's local product development
capabilities.
The collaboration
reflects the growing emphasis on locally developed, application-ready devices
that can be adapted to specific market requirements and scaled for commercial
use.
Fibocom also
demonstrated its MagiCore AI companion solution and AI Dongle, extending its
offerings beyond wireless connectivity into edge artificial intelligence
applications.
"Fibocom has built a strong presence in India, working closely with local partners across payments, energy and asset tracking. Together, we support customers in taking IoT devices from product development and pilot validation to volume production and large-scale deployment," said Thales Zhang, Vice President and Head of the Global Marketing and Computing Solutions Business Group at Fibocom.
Founded in 1999, Fibocom provides cellular, AI, automotive and GNSS modules, alongside AI toolchains, AI agents, global connectivity and cloud services. Its solutions serve industries including robotics, consumer electronics, transportation, retail and energy.
