The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga on Saturday, hosting a grand event at Gopabandhu Stadium. With over 1,000 participants, the occasion was a resounding success, bringing together PPA officials, senior officers, and community members in a unified celebration of health and well-being.
The event was graced by P.L. Haranadh, Chairman of PPA, along with Heads of Departments (HoDs) and senior officers, all of whom actively participated in the yoga sessions. The session was expertly guided by Tapas Ranjan Pati, a seasoned instructor from The Art of Living, who led the participants through a series of yoga asanas aimed at enhancing physical fitness and mental clarity.
The diverse group of participants included PPA officials, students, CISF personnel, port users, and members of the Paradip Sakharata Samiti (PSS), demonstrating the event’s widespread appeal and inclusivity.
P.L. Haranadh inaugurated the event, emphasizing the profound benefits of yoga in promoting both physical and mental well-being. He spoke about the importance of adopting a yoga practice for a balanced, harmonious life, and highlighted how yoga serves as a path to holistic health for individuals and communities alike.

Among the dignitaries present were U. R. Mohan Raju (Secretary), Capt. A. C. Sahu (Deputy Conservator), H.S. Rout (Chief Engineer), Susil Chandra Nahak (Chief Mechanical Engineer), G. Edition (Traffic Manager), and Dr. B.B. Dash (Chief Medical Officer).
To further elevate the experience, participants had the opportunity to virtually view the live telecast of the International Day of Yoga 2025 from Visakhapatnam, where Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi delivered an inspiring address. His words, “Yoga awakens us to interconnectedness. It is for One Earth, One Health. Yoga takes us from ‘me’ to ‘we’. India is offering healing to the world,” resonated deeply with the gathering, reinforcing the global significance of yoga.
The event also underscored PPA’s commitment to health and community well-being. In a special gesture, the PPA Chairman felicitated 40 Safai Mitras for their exceptional efforts in maintaining cleanliness at PPA, contributing to the Swachh Bharat mission. Volunteers from the Paradip Saksharata Samiti were also honoured for their tireless work in promoting literacy and community development.
